NPD asks for public's assistance to help find vandals
Nelson Police reported several acts of vandalism in and around the city during the past few days as the force responded to more than 75 calls from the public.
Sunday, officers were called to deal with a report of vandals damaging several wooden flowerpots at Rosemont Elementary School.
The incident occurred during the early hours of the evening.
Saturday, police responded to damage to windows at the Nelson Cemetery.
The call came in that someone had smashed the glass with rocks sometime during Friday night or Saturday morning.
Thursday, taggers were out putting their own special stamp on the city during the night.
Several businesses owners called police to report buildings had been tagged with an abundance of graffiti.

Man’s best friend continue to plague city streets
The Nelson Police Department and Nelson Bylaw Department re-iterate an increased awareness of the number of stray and unleashed dogs in the Nelson area.
People should be aware that dogs are reported and apprehended by the Nelson Police or Bylaw Departments, will face a fine of $70, impoundment fees of $60 and a $17/per day storage fee prior to their dog being released back to them.
Additional fees will be levied if the dog is unlicensed.
Enforcement of these Bylaws will continue to be increased as the weather improves and an increase in stray dogs becomes apparent.
