BC Coroners Service identified the father and 10-year-old daughter killed when a boulder landed on their tent while camping on Blackcomb Mountain as Trevor Norman, 49, and his daughter Zarah, 10.

Both, killed in a freak accident, were from North Vancouver.

Whistler RCMP Cpl. Rob Knapton said the father was an experienced outdoorsman and appeared to have taken all recommended precautionary measures.

The pair had gone up the mountain Saturday for a day of ski touring and had planned to camp overnight.

“They had a safety plan in place, which was to check in at the end, and they’d actually checked in at one point on Saturday night as well,” Knapton said.
