Anwa Teixeira plays Winlaw's Cedar Creek Cafe
Portuguese-Canadian singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Anwa Teixeira is making a stop in Winlaw at the Cedar Creek Cafe Thursday, May 23.
Teixeira has toured the world since 2001, mainly as co-leader of the indie-roots sensation, Po’Girl. Awna is now on tour supporting her 2012 solo release, “Where The Darkness Goes.”
Although Teixeira handles the accordion, guitar, banjo, harmonica and ukulele with ease, it’s Awna’s songs that will bring you back to the classic feel of front porch spirituals, where tales of heartache and travel are laced with accordion-driven European folk.
Touring Europe last fall, Awna received great press, enjoyed substantial airplay on both BBC and Netherlands national radio, and headlined festivals.
