BC Coroners Service identifies women killed by train near Invermere

The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a woman who died after being struck by a train near Invermere on February 19 (Tuesday) as Carmen Denise Salazar, aged 50, of Invermere.

Salazar was with a friend crossing the CP Rail tracks in Athalmere near Invermere on the evening of February 19.

She was standing very close to the tracks with her back to them when she was struck by a southbound CP Rail coal train. She was deceased at the scene.

The BC Coroners Service and RCMP continue to investigate this death.
