Teck Kootenay Cup series opened Sunday at Black Jack Trails near Rossland
The cross country skiing season is afoot as the Black Jack club near Rossland hosted the first Teck Kootenay Cup series Sunday.
The event is a friendly competition run every year between the Nelson Nordic, Black Jack and Kimberley Nordic ski clubs.
The race attracts skiers from youth to masters, 50-plus.

The race was a Mass Start Free Technique.
The second race of the series goes Sunday, January 27 at the Nelson Nordic Ski Trails near Apex, 10 kilometers south of Nelson on Highway 6.
This also a Mass Start Free Technique race and Cross Country Canada Rules and Regulations apply.
