Five Area H residents to receive Queen’s Diamond Jubilee medals

Regional District of Central Kootenay Area H rep Walter Popoff is pleased to announce five recipients of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee medals for their outstanding contributions to their communities and fellow citizens.

Popoff will present the medals during medal ceremonies in the Slocan Valley in February to Peter Wood, Rita Moir, Rory Lindsay, Lorna Visser and Richard Allin.

“Each of these individuals is exceptionally deserving of this honour,” Popoff said. “It is thrilling to be part of this once-in-a lifetime event.”

Popoff nominated the recipients through the Federation of Canadian Municipalities and the medals were awarded by the Governor General’s office.

The ceremonies are schedule for February 9-10.

Wood’s ceremony is slated for the Anglican Church Hall in South Slocan on February 9 at 11:30 a.m.

Moir and Lindsay will received their medals at the Vallican Whole Community Centre in Vallican on February 9 at 3 p.m.

The ceremony for Visser and Allin is scheduled for Hills Community/Fire Hall in Hills February 10 at 2 p.m.

The presentations are open to the public and Popoff welcomes everyone to celebrate the presentation of these Queens Diamond Jubilee Medals and congratulate your neighbours on their accomplishments.
