A father and his three sons were rescued from a mountain Thursday morning near the Revelstoke Mountain Resort after spending the night in the cold .

RCMP said the family was skiing at the resort when they wandered out of bounds.

He says the group was able to signal for help but darkness stalled rescue operations.

A helicopter plucked the family from the bush Thursday morning.

It was later revealed  this was the family’s first run of the day and their first time at the resort.
