The 400 Block of Baker Street was filled to capacity as children of all ages waited patiently to get a pre-Christmas glimpse of Santa Claus during the Festival of Lights and Assembly of Elves celebration Friday.

With the sled in the shop for a last-minute tune-up and the reindeer resting up for the big night, Santa arrived as expected on the Nelson Fire Department Fire Truck.

Before his arrival, people were able to experience the First Annual Elf Walk and lighting of the trees of Baker Street.

The event has been happening in Nelson for the past 40 years and now the setting is perfect for the holiday season with more than 10,000 lights brining a festive atmosphere for shoppers.
