Queen’s Diamond Jubilee medal ceremony honours 10 local icons
MP Alex Atamanenko and the Regional District of Central Kootenay Board of Directors will honour 10 West Kootenay icons with Queen’s Diamond Jubilee medals Friday, November 16 in Nelson.
“The Board is thrilled to be part of an event that recognizes these 10 outstanding individuals who have contributed so much to our communities and fellow citizens,” said RDCK Board Chair John Kettle.
“We invite the public to join us as we honour and celebrate the achievements of our residents.”
The RDCK board was asked by Atamanenko to nominate 10 worthy individuals within the confines of the district.
The list includes, former MLA Conrad “Corky” Evans, Aya Higashi, former RDCK chair Gary Wright, Nelson City Councilor Donna Macdonald, former RDCK member Josh Smienk, Beverly Maloff, Geoff Yule, Rebecca McDonnell, John Voykin and former RDCK chair Hans Cunningham.
“I would like to congratulate all the recipients and to thank the Chair and directors of RDCK for taking the time to select the worthy individuals who will be receiving this medal” said Alex Atamanenko.
The ceremony will be held at 3 p.m, on Friday, November 16th in the Hume Room, Hume Hotel.
