Man killed by train in Chilliwack identified

The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man who died after being struck by a train in Chilliwack on Friday (November 2) as Robert Jonathan Beaudry, aged 25, from Regina, SK.

Beaudry was visiting family in Chilliwack at the time of his death.

The accident happened at about 11:30 p.m. when Beaudry was travelling with friends in a taxi which had stopped at a railway crossing at Young Road in Chilliwack to allow an oncoming, westbound CN train to pass.

Beaudry decided to exit the taxi and was struck by the train as he attempted to cross the railway tracks on foot.

The Coroners Service continues to investigate this death.
