There were two new champs and one that has seen the winner’s circle before after Nelson City Soccer concluded its outdoor season Sunday at the Lakeside Pitch.

John McCuaig scored the insurance marker to help power Club Inter to a 3-1 victory over surprising Red Dog in the final of the Jackson’s Hole Men’s Masters League.

Club Inter won the regular season title and were looking to duplicate the feat in the playoffs after Red Dog upset defending playoff champ Jackson’s Hole 2-1 the week before in semi final play.

Club Inter got past Real Nelson in the 5-0 in the other semi final.

Lily Whites made it look easy in capturing successive Finley’s Ladies Rec League crowns with a convincing 6-1 stomping of Dirty Dozen Sunday afternoon at Lakeside.

Only one point separated the two teams after the regular season.

However, when playoff time game it was all Lily Whites as the regular season champs pounded Dirty Dozen.

Saturday, Marley Foot scored the only goal of the game and man-of-the-match Keith Williams was outstanding between the pipes leading Old Guys to a 1-0 victory over Kootenay Co-op in the final of the Leo’s Men’s Open League.

Foot scored game’s only goal, taking through pass and beating Chris Thast with a low shot from just outside the penalty area late in the first half.

The goal was all the Old Guys would need as Williams continually thwarted opportunity after opportunity by Co-op.

Only once did Co-op beat Williams but Alexi St. Jean-Duncan saved his keep by kicking the ball away from the vacant net.

Co-op advanced to the final knocking off defending champion Innkeepers while Old Guys dumped LVR Bombers.

The playoff weekend concludes the outdoor season for Nelson City Soccer. Teams now move indoors to the Soccer Quest facility for the start of the indoor leagues.
