A 46 year-old woman from Grand Forks was killed after her car left the roadway and rolled over an embankment at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 25.

When Midway RCMP and Midway Fire Rescue responded to the single vehicle collision on Highway 33, about five kilometers south of Beaverdell, they discovered the sole occupant of the 1991 Olds Cutlass was alive and they had her transported to Kelowna by BC Ambulance.

She had been driving northbound on Highway 33 when her vehicle left the roadway on the right shoulder and went over the embankment.

According to West Kootenay Traffic Services RCMP sergeant Derrick Donovan, the woman later died in hospital of her injuries.

One lane of Highway 33 was closed to traffic for about four hours so an investigation could be conducted.

More information will be released once the woman’s next of kin have been notified.

The investigation continues.
