Nelson Police had a quiet weekend, dealing with a few break and enters at two schools and old Mount St Francis hospital.

Early Saturday (September 29) a resident living near Trafalgar and South Nelson schools heard sounds of breaking glass.

The next day the resident noticed broken glass and reported the incident to Nelson Police.

It appears the culprits did not gain entrance to either school.

Police continue to investigate and advise anyone hearing noises Saturday morning contact NPD.

Also early Saturday (September 29) morning culprits broke into the old Mount St Francis hospital, breaking out a glass door and removing a security chain.

Once inside the alarm sounded and scared the culprits off.

A property representative came and re-secured the building.

The break in remains under investigation.

Wild LSD ride for man

A man known to police experienced a crazy night before spending time in Nelson Police cells.

The man started the evening causing a disturbance at a local restaurant in the 500 block of Baker Streeet at around 7 p.m.

The owner advised the man habitually disturbs the customers and is no longer welcome.

A couple in the restaurant thought about taking the man ride to a party in the Slocan valley.

Police released the man to continue on his way out there.

At about 4 a.m. a carload of people arrived at NPD office with the same male reporting the man was at their party scaring the females, claiming to be the “Shambala rapist”.

The man admitted to being under the influence of LSD and was lodged into cells until sober.

The males transporting him were advised that any criminal allegations would have to be investigated by the RCMP.
