Sports Council unveils new Sports Museum Friday

The Nelson Sports Council is ready to open its Sports Museum for the summer tourist season Saturday, July 7 in the Civic Centre and Nelson and District Community Complex Arenas.

The museum exhibits are full of local hockey players who have made it big in the NHL, including Danny Gare, Greg Adams and Pat Price, along with skating and lacrosse memorabilia dating back before the Civic Centre was built in 1935.

The museum also has an authentic collection of photos, sport artifacts and historic audio of game play by play for sport enthusiasts, historians and former Nelsonites to enjoy.

The Grand Opening and Tour is set for Friday, July 6, at 4 p.m. in the Civic Centre Arena.

The museum is open every Friday and Saturday until August 31 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Tuesday to Thursday, by appointment only by calling 250-352-3989.

Admission is free.
