LVR Rugby Bombers finish 12th at B.C. High School AA Boy's Championships
An injury riddled team from the interior definitely has an uphill climb when competing against the best the province has to offer at the B.C. High School AA Boy’s Rugby Championships.
The banged-up Bombers fell 24-5 to Kelowna Christian in consolation play Saturday at the 16-team tournament in Abbotsford.
The loss was the third in four games for LVR, which entered the tournament minus a few of its top players.
LVR still improved on its finish from 2011, placing 12th overall. In 2011 the Bomber rugby side finished 13th.
After losing 28-7 to Southridge of Surrey, LVR defeated Esquimalt 12-5 on scores by Cail Spencer and Jake Lock.
Jordan Hunter converted both scores.
LVR lost its final game 38-0 to North Vancouver’s Windsor.
The Bombers, seeded seventh entering the tournament, won the Kootenay zone title by defeating Selkirk Storm of Kimberley.
