Bombers post two shutouts as Kootenay Rugby season opens in Grand Forks
The L.V. Rogers Bombers started the 2012 Kootenay High School Rugby season the same way the squad concluded the 2011 campaign — with a win.
The Bombers took the bite out of the Selkirk Storm of Kimberley 31-0 before blasting a combined Trail Hawks/Rossland Royals team 32-0 in action Friday in Grand Forks.
“Jordon Hunter and John Katountas ran well with ball (and) Jake Lock was all over the field — tackling everything that moved,” said LVR vice principal Frank Marisco.
In junior boy’s action, the LVR Bombers dropped a pair of games with Brandon Sagal earning was Man of Match for the Nelson-based squad.
Playday Number two goes Friday in Trail as the Hawks are the hosts.
LVR meets Crowe in the opening game before tackling Mount Baker Wild of Cranbrook in game two.
The Bombers playday is Wednesday, May 16 at the Lakeside Pitch.
