Two pedestrians hit by truck as driver fled scene

One pedestrian was killed and another is in critical condition after an older model truck struck the pair near Williams Lake.

At approximately 02:15 hours, Williams Lake RCMP received a call that two pedestrians had been struck by a truck on Carson Dr.

The truck, an older model smaller pickup truck, fled the scene.

BC ambulance attended to the victims, one female born in 92 was pronounced dead at the scene, the second female, born in 93, is in critical condition and has been air lifted to Vancouver General Hospital with life threatening injuries.

The vehicle was located immediately by Williams Lake RCMP members.

The driver, a 28-year-old male, has been arrested for impaired driving causing death and impaired driving causing bodily harm. The driver remains in police custody.

The RCMP Cariboo Chilcotin Traffic Services continues their investigation in conjunction with the BC Coroners  Service. Names are being withheld pending Next of Kin Notification.
