Selkirk grad Krysta Hatlen wins 2012 Nursing Rising Star Award
Selkirk College nursing graduate, Krysta Hatlen has won the 2012 Rising Star Award given to outstanding young professionals by the College of Registered Nurses of B.C.
Hatlen, who works in the maternity department at Kootenay Lake Hospital in Nelson, gained international experience with Doctors Without Borders in Ethiopia since graduating in 2008.
Hatlen also worked in Guatemala during her third year of studies and is currently squeezing in some more experience on a labour and delivery unit in Red Deer, Alberta.
This award is presented to registrants who graduated from an education program leading to initial entry to practice within five years of the deadline for CRNBC award nominations.
The recipients will have exceeded the expectations of their employers or colleagues and demonstrate excellence in the nursing profession.
The Selkirk College nursing degree program is run in junction with the program at the University of Victoria.
