Notice of dye testing in the Kootenay River
The City of Nelson Utilities department will be conducting a dye test on the Waste Water Treatment Plant effluent to evaluate the location of the effluent plume in the Kootenay River, and also to help establish appropriate river sampling locations for receiving environment monitoring.
The dye, Rhodamine WT, is non-toxic and the effects will be a temporary pink colour in the Kootenay River below the Waste Water Treatment Plant.
It will not affect the fish or other aquatic life forms. All appropriate agencies have been notified.
Testing will commence on Wednesday, Nov. 23.
