Winlaw Hall energy efficiency upgrade

Six energy efficiency deficiencies on the 52-year-old Winlaw Community Hall will be remedied after the regional district board of directors approved a $81,868.37 Community Works Fund application from Area H.

The Winlaw Hall Society had identified six deficiencies inherent in the hall, including single-pane windows, heating system, window coverings, exterior cladding, lack of insulation and sections of the roof that were inhibiting extending the life of the building

A new heat source pump will now be installed, as will energy efficient, double pane window and new insulated doors.

The hall will also receive new tight-fitted, tinted black-out blinds, new siding and insulation in the walls and ceiling. Roofing will be repaired or replaced in many places.

The work is expected to be completed by December of 2011.
