Drunken nap lands male with drug charge

Salmo RCMP were called to a complaint of an intoxicated male sleeping in an alley in the 100 block of Main Street in Salmo on Tuesday night around 11:15 p.m. 

The man was solid asleep in near freezing temperature when the member arrived on scene to check on his wellbeing. 

The individual was arrested for causing a disturbance by being drunk and was subsequently found to be in possession of over a quarter of a kilogram of marijuana. 

The individual was eventually released from custody with a promise to appear in Nelson Provincial Court Jan. 24. 

Charges of possession of a controlled substance and cause a disturbance are being proposed for the individual.
