Purchase of land now approved for waste transfer site
The move is on.
Approval has now been given for the purchase of the land to move the city’s transfer station, as the Regional District of Central Kootenay board of directors voted last week to move it, one month after the item was brought to the board level.
The new site of the waste transfer station will be at the end of Insight Drive, moving away from the current waterfront site.
No timeline has been given as to when the move will occur, or what will inhabit the land the transfer station now occupies.
Mayor John Dooley has expressed his view the area should be turned over to park land, but also added the issue will likely come to a public meeting at some point.
