Kootenay Wildcats sniper Daley Oddy of Cranbrook scored twice to lead Team B.C. to a 2-1 win over UBC Women’s Hockey Team 1 during a mini-tournament Sunday at McArthur Arena in Kamloops.

The scoring explosion helped Team B.C. finish the tourney with a 2-2 record and confidence heading into the 2011 Women’s National Under-18 Championship November 2-6 in Saguenay, Que.

“The bantam boys really set the tone for Team B.C’s weekend by providing an outstanding level of competition wit.h high tempo in the first two games,” Team B.C. head coach Jeff Oldenborger said in a written press release.

“Along with the two games against the older more experienced UBC team, the weekend was a success in preparing for the National Championships in November in Saguenay, Quebec.”

Oddy is joined by former teammate and defenceman Aimee DiBella of Nelson.

Team B.C. opened the four-day camp with a 5-0 win over a Kamloops Bantam squad.

Team B.C. then dropped a 2-1 decision to Kamloops and 3-1 setback to UBC Women’s Hockey Team 3 before squaring the weekend record at 2-2 with the late victory.

Team B.C. is part of the B.C. Hockey’s Female High Performance Program.

The program was established to identify and train athletes and team personnel for possible participation at Provincial, National and International events.
