Stewart RCMP respond to fatal helicopter crash in Nelson Glacier area
The Stewart RCMP responded to a report of a helicopter crash late Sunday afternoon. RCMP investigators attended the crash site by air and confirmed that the three people onboard perished in the crash.
The helicopter operated by Vancouver Island Helicopters had a three people on board (pilot and two client passengers) who were on a geological work-related flight.
On Sunday, July 31 at around 4 pm, the Stewart RCMP received a report from Vancouver Island Helicopters Ltd that one of their aircraft had crashed in the Nelson Glacier area.
The helicopter firm attended the area to assist in transporting the RCMP investigators to the location.
The RCMP will continue to assist Transport Canada and the BC Coroners Service with their investigations into the fatal crash.
