Silver’s so bright, we had better get out the shades.

The Zone 6 West Kootenay Boundary 55-plus Slopitch team came ever so close to tasting gold, but instead settled for silver at the 2011 West Kootenay B.C. Senior Games.

The West Kootenay 55-plus lost to Deloitte’s Old Sticks from North Central in the final.

Staff and management would like to salute the West Kootenay 55-plus, and all of the local seniors who participated to push the host zone to its best finish — second overall — at the provincial event.

The team includes, back row, L-R, Sam Ross (Rossland), Carson Eriksen (Fruitvale), Bill Edwards (Trail), Wally Shannon (Fruitvale), Chris Rhodes (Trail) and Ted Cockett (Nanaimo).

Front, Jack Piderman (Nelson), Cyril Ozeroff (Castlegar), Tony Musa (Nelson), Fred Lyon (Nanaimo), Mark Rutherglen (Balfour/New Zealand) and Ken Haynes (Nelson).
