Neptune's Matthew golden streak ends in Kimberley
The gold-medal streak of Nelson Neptune swimmer Samuel Matthew was halted after the division three competitor scored a silver medal at the Kimberley stop on the Kootenay Summer Swim Assocaition Sunday in the Bavarian City.
Matthew had won gold in the previous four meets before finishing second in Kimberley.
Joining Matthew on the second step of the podium is Jakob Brager in division one boys and Kiandra McLaren in division six girls.
Melissa Afford won the only gold medal for the Neptunes, running away with the top prize in division seven girls. Sister Rebecca was third in division seven girls.
The Neptunes have a weekend off before taking to the waters of the Castlegar Complex for the Kootenay Regional Meet August 6-7.
The top swimmers advance to the B.C. Summer Swim Association Championships August 15-21 in Richmond.
