Wasn’t it great the summer finally showed up . . . and on Canada Day?

Nelsonites flocked to Lakeside Park for cake, music and fun and games.

Following the official opening of Nelson’s Canada Day celebrations, it was full steam ahead of activities culminated by the fireworks demonstration at 10 p.m.

From the Heritage Harmony Barbershop Choir to the Nelson Cityn Band to the Brenda McJones Highland Dancers and Jude Davison 9 Piece Band, which concluded the day of entertainment at 8:30 p.m., it was a day of enjoyment during the family-fun-packed day.

The Nelson Daily photographer Bruce Fuhr also took in the celebrations with camera in hand.

Here are just some of the pictures pulled off the memory card from Canada Day 2011.
