Principal Brent Cross, W. E. Graham Community School, is presently working with the University of British Columbia and the West Kootenay Teacher Education Program about the possibility of collaborating on a project that would eventually see the school as a demonstration school for multi-age education.

The project would advance professional development for staff at the school, and provide an important link for student teachers.

“We are excited to see how this project goes and very supportive of this initiative,” said School District No. 8 (Kootenay Lake) superintendent of schools, Jeff Jones.

Salmo Elementary School recently received a grant of $20,000 through the Columbia

Basin Trust: Environmental Initiatives Program to support its outdoor classroom and learning garden project.

These funds, in addition to the $11,000 raised by the community, will go far toward the completion of this important project.
