Majority of teachers vote in favour of strike action

June 29th, 2011

Teachers in School District No. 8 and across the province voted in favour of a strike if the negotiations on a new contract aren’t successfully concluded.

Around 90 per cent of the 70 per cent of teachers that cast ballots called for strike action in September.

The B.C. Teachers Federation said the strike would mean teachers would continue to teach, but would not attend staff meetings, take attendance, or perform administrative tasks.
