High water closures of areas of Nelson’s waterfront are now in effect, the City of Nelson announced Wednesday.

Water levels have been rapidly rising on Kootenay Lake — with the surface of the water only a foot or so from the edge of the waterfront path in some place — forcing the closure of the dog walk adjacent to the airport.

On the east end of Lakeside Park, the sports field parking lot is now closed due to flooding. The parking lot will be closed until further notice.

If you have any questions, please call the City of Nelson’s Public Works Department at 352-8238.
