A public hearing will be held Monday evening on the rezoning for the property on Anderson Street slated for a low-income mental health housing.

City council will be hosting the meeting at 6:30 p.m. in council chambers in order to pinch closed one of the final chapters in an amendment to the City’s Land Use Regulation Amendment Bylaw 3192.

The amendment has to be made to rezone the 33-unit, $7 million project from a single and two family residential zone to a low density residential zone.

The amendment will also add that the owner — Canadian Mental Health Association-Kootenays — submit a geotechnical report prior to the City inspectors final approval of the rezone.

Anyone who feels affected by this proposed bylaw is asked to attend and they will be given an opportunity to be heard on the matters contained in the bylaw.

“However, it is important that all who speak at this hearing restrict their remarks to matters contained in the bylaw,” warned a statement from the presiding officer for the hearing.

City council will not be debating the merits of the proposed bylaw with individual citizens or with each other.
