A Cathedral Whispers: talking history and stained glass
Over 110 years of history of one of the more storied churches in the West Kootenay will be revealed in A Cathedral Whispers, a historical talk this Thursday on St. Saviour’s Pro-Cathedral’s unique stained glass windows.
Led by local history researcher and former Nelson Daily News staffer Greg Scott, St. Saviour’s stained glass windows are unique and collectively the best example of church stained glass in the Kootenay region — on par with those in cathedrals in Vancouver and Victoria.
Scott will highlight the people and history of the 16 memorial stained glass windows contained in the church, as well as some of the memorial plaques in the church.
This will be followed by stained glass artisans, Moss and Gavin Holland, describing the history of church stained glass itself and its restoration.
A question period will follow.
