After two consecutive losses — one by a wide margin and the other, a tough winnable setback — the L.V. Rogers Bombers tasted success at the B.C. High School AA Boy’s Rugby Championships Thursday in Abbotsford.

The Bombers proved they belong as the 16-ranked squad ran all over 12th ranked Okanagan Mission in consolation round action thumping the Kelowna-based school 27-5.

Quinn Cowie scored a pair of tries while Sean Hickson, Colin Robinson, Jake Kindred each added singles to power the Bombers to lopsided victory.

Kicker Kevin Lewis converted each try to complete the scoring.

The Bombers opened the tourney with a 38-10 loss to top ranked Collingwood of West Vancouver Sunday in the Lower Mainland City.

LVR suffered from butterflies and could not match the speed of the provincial power.
Tuesday, LVR lost its second game of the 16-team tournament to Vernon’s Kalamalka Lakers 19-12.

The loss was tough for Kootenay reps to stomach as it seemed every break and every call by the game official went the way of the Lakers.

The Bombers, already improving on a 16th place finish from 2010, close out the tourney Saturday against the winner of the Smithers/Southridge contest.
