Two vehicle head on crash on Highway 3 west of Rock Creek
The jaws of life had to be used to extricate a woman from her vehicle after she was involved in a two-vehicle head-on crash Tuesday afternoon on Highway 3, five kilometres west of Rock Creek.
The 25-year-old Victoria woman remains in serious but stable condition with injuries to her legs and facial areas, and remains in Kelowna General Hospital, where she was flown by helicopter.
Midway RCMP, Midway Rescue and EHS attended to the two-vehicle head on crash involving a Volkswagen car traveling east and a white one tonne Dodge truck pulling a boat and trailer traveling west.
At the time of collision the road was wet and the initial investigation indicated the sole occupant in the car crossed into the west bound lane while traveling around a corner and struck the truck on the left front side, said West Kootenay Traffic Services Sgt. Derrick Donovan.
The two occupants of the Dodge truck — a 57-year-old male and his wife, a 57-year-old female from Maple Ridge — suffered minor injuries and were treated at the Grand Forks Hospital.
West Kootenay Traffic Services continue to assist Midway RCMPolice with the investigation.
