It’s definitely not the start the Kootenay Ice wanted at the 2011 MasterCard Memorial Cup in Mississauga, Ont.

Mississauga’s Rob Flick broke a 1-1 tie 11:51 into the third period to power the St. Michael’s Majors to a 2-1 victory over Kootenay in round robin action Sunday.

The loss drops the Ice to 0-2 and last in the four-team standings.

Kootenay opened the tournament with a 5-0 loss to Owen Sound Attack Saturday.

The top three teams advance to the playoff round, with the second and third-place teams meeting in Friday’s semi final.

The final, which Saint John has already booked its ticket thanks to a 3-2 overtime win over Owen Sound Attack, is set for Sunday.

Kootenay, defeating Portland Winterhawks to advance the Memorial Cup, still has a slim outside shot at the playoffs if the Western Hockey League champion can defeat Saint John Sea Dogs Tuesday.
