A strategic alliance aimed at helping Nelson businesses operate safely and save electricity will be launched this Wednesday.

Every year Nelson firefighters visit over 1,000 businesses and conduct on-site fire safety inspections. During this year’s inspections, firefighters will also share important information about current FortisBC PowerSense programs, and eligible businesses will receive a free LED exit light upgrade kit from FortisBC PowerSense.

Representatives from the Nelson City council, the City of Nelson, Nelson Hydro, Nelson Fire Department and FortisBC PowerSense will gather outside City Hall on Wednesday, May 11 at 11:30 am to kick off that program.

Nelson Hydro partners with FortisBC PowerSense to make these programs available to all Nelson Hydro customers. This unique alliance was initiated to deliver FortisBC PowerSense programs directly to business owners, in order to encourage more people to take advantage of the energy-saving and incentive programs that are available.
