The Vancouver Canucks got another monkey off their backs.

For only the third time in franchise history, and the first in 17 long, long years for Canucks fans, Vancouver will move past the second round of the playoffs after eliminating the Nashville Predators 2-1 in game six Monday night.

The Canucks win the best of seven series 4-2.

Mason Raymond and Daniel Sedin scored first period goals for Vancouver while David Legwand, with another goal from behind the net, had the lone goal for Nashville.

Mr. Everything for the Canucks, Ryan Kesler had two assists on the night and was by far the best Canuck in this series.

Vancouver will face either the San Jose Sharks or the Detroit Red Wings in the Western Conference Final.

Detroit forced a game six Tuesday in HockeyTown with a 4-3 come-from-behind win Sunday in San Jose.
