It was a game the defending Stanley Cup Champions had to have. And a game the Hawks definitely proved they were the better team.

David Bolland returned to the Chicago lineup for the first time in more than a month and registered four points to spark the Blackhawks to a 7-2 trashing of the Vancouver Canucks in game four of the NHL playoffs Tuesday in the Windy City.

Bolland keyed a four-goal second period explosion to lead the Chicago to the one-side victory.

The game turned drastically when Hawks’ defencemen Brian Campbell and Duncan Keith scored 17 seconds apart to snap a 1-1 tie.

Patrick Sharp scored twice in the third period on the power play.

Sami Salo and Daniel Sedin, the latter scoring in the third with the game over, scored on the power play for Vancouver.

Chicago played the game without the services of defenceman Brent Seabrook, who did not play after taking a hit to the head during game three from Canuck forward Raffi Torres.

Vancouver still leads the best-of-seven series 3-1 with game five at the Rogers Centre Thursday at 7 p.m.
