B-Sens take 2-0 series lead with 5-3 win over Portland

The Binghamton Senators roared back from a 2-0 deficit to dump the Pirates 5-3 in AHL Atlantic Division Calder Cup Playoff action Thursday in Portland, M.E.

The Sens now own a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven series with the next three games set for Binghamton, beginning Saturday.

After Derek Whitmore and Mark Mancari gave the Pirates a 2-0 lead 22 minutes into the game the Sens rallied to out score 5-1 to claim its second win of the series.

Binghamton, with Nelson Minor Hockey grad Geoff Kinrade on defence for the Sens, won the opening game 3-2.

Kaspars Daugavins, with a pair, Zack Smith, Bobby Butle and Bob Raymond scored for the B-Sens, which have won five straight games dating back to the first round series against Manchester Monarchs.

Game four of the series goes Monday in Binghamton. Game five is set for Tuesday.
