A strike will be averted as Kootenay Savings Credit Union has reached a settlement with its unionized employees.

Details of the agreement will not be made public until the deal has been completed, however, the deal is all but done, according to a news release.

The affected branches include South Slocan, Kaslo, Salmo, Warfield, Trail, Waneta Plaza, Fruitvale, Salmo, and Castlegar, Kaslo and Kimberley.

The last contract expired at the end of last year.

Ninety-three per cent of workers voted to strike early last month, with 82 per cent of the 150 union employees turning out for the vote.
