Got a bike you no longer need? Looking for a bike for those ever-growing kids? Want to support this environmentally benign form of transit?

On Sunday, April 17, Slocan Valley Recreation Commission will be hosting its ever-popular Annual Bike Swap at the Slocan Park Hall from 10 a.m. to noon.

From single speed road bikes to high-end mountain bikes, to kids bikes and tricycles, it all seems to show up at the event.

Besides checking out bikes, folks now come out and enjoy a ride on the Slocan Valley Rail Trail. Can it get any better than that?

If you’re planning on selling a bike, please ensure that it has been cleaned up and, hopefully, in good working order. Please note that 10 per cent of the selling price (to a maximum of $30) goes to Slocan Valley Recreation.

Bikes being sold must be brought to the hall before 9:45 a.m. and unsold bikes or cash must be picked up before 12:30 p.m. The event organizers have the right to refuse bikes should they not be in good working order.

To help with your purchasing decision, Mark Holt of the Sacred Ride will be on site to answer any cycle maintenance questions which may arise. You can also bring your current bike over and they’ll give it a quick inspection to make sure it’s road worthy.

We all know that a little attention now can save a lot of aches and pains when you’re out in the middle of nowhere.

The Slocan Park Hall is located approximately eight kilometres north on Highway 6 in the Slocan Valley. Watch for signs. Give them a call at 226-0008 if you have any questions.
