Province may consider challenges to roadside penalties
Changes may be coming to the drunk driving laws that would allow people to challenge roadside penalties.
After fielding many complaints from people over how the new law was being applied by police, the Provincial Government is considering legislative changes to allow an appeal period in the same way drivers can appeal a speeding ticket.
Police have been handing drivers an immediate roadside suspension and a fine since last year, when the new law took effect, making it illegal to drive with a .05 blood-alcohol reading.
