Keep the shovel on the ready, there is still a snowfall warning in effect for the West Kootenay (or didn’t you look outside).

Total snow amounts up to 20 centimetres are forecast overnight and won’t let up until Monday morning, Environment Canada has predicted.
A frontal system is crossing the province and continues to give snow — heavy at times — to much of the British Columbia Interior including the West Kootenay.

Snowfall amounts around 10 cm. have been reported at many localities in the region and additional snow amounts of up to an additional 10 cm. can be expected through to the middle of Monday.

This will make the Monday morning drive to work precarious. Currently, there are no planned street closures in Nelson, and all bus routes remain open.

As information comes in Monday morning, this story will be updated.

Once the front progresses eastward away from the region, snow will taper off to a few flurries Monday afternoon over the southeastern Interior.

The snow will start up again Monday evening but it is expected to be light, around two cm. with an overnight low of minus five degrees Celsius.

Tuesday and Wednesday are predicted to be sunny with daytime temperature highs near zero.
