Parliament opens with Speech from Throne
Lieutenant-Governor Steven L. Point today opened the third session of the 39th Parliament of British Columbia, delivering a throne speech that outlined government’s agenda for change in the coming year.

The budget will be delivered Tuesday, but Finance Minister Colin Hansen said he’s leaving it to the incoming premier and cabinet to announce any new programs.
He also said the deficit for the current fiscal year will be significantly lower than was budgeted for this time last year.
The legislature sat Monday for the first time since June 2010. It will adjourn again on Thursday.
