Marc Emery transferred to prison further south in US
BC’s “Prince of Pot” was shipped last week to the D. Ray James Correctional Facility in Folkstone, Ga., a low-security federal prison holding mostly non-U.S. citizens.
In a Nov. 17 letter to his wife Jodie Emery posted on a prison blog, longtime marijuana activist Marc Emery said he was supposed to be sent to a federal institution in California “but the [Bureau of Prisons] has changed it to send me as far away from you as possible.”
The 2,900-capacity jail is privately owned by the GEO group, which operates it for the U.S. Bureau of Prisons.
Emery is serving a five-year U.S. prison term for mailing marijuana seeds south of the border.
