The project to replace the old wooden bridge structure at the foot of Baker Street is nearing completion.

The new concrete deck was cast in place approximately one week ago and will be open to regular vehicle traffic on Monday, Nov. 1.

The concrete bridge deck requires the extra time to cure prior to opening to heavy truck traffic the week of Nov. 8.

Expect delays and detours into mid November as the City utility crews will be replacing the waterline adjacent the new structure prior to resurfacing of Baker Street.

Additional weather dependant work in this vicinity will continue late into the fall, geared toward surface improvements such as sidewalks, railings, and road surfacing. Periodic delays and detours may be required in order to complete this work.

Other City notes:

• All repairs to the City of Nelson Parkade have been completed and the parkade is now open.

• People are asked to rake leaves from boulevard trees off the boulevard onto the road beside the curb. Rake leaves loosely — do not place in piles or in bags. Call 352-8228 or 352-8238 and they will be scheduled for pickup.

• There will be no transit on Thursday, Nov. 11. Regular service will resume Friday, Nov. 12.

• Demolition of the Redfish Grill is now ongoing and is anticipated to last six weeks. A pedestrian detour has been constructed on the north side of the street, incorporating two parking stalls adjacent the amenity
