Carve into Slocan Valley winter sports swap
Feeling a little tinge in the air and thinking about the winter season ahead?
Been procrastinating about getting that pumpkin carved for Halloween?
Relax, Slocan Valley Recreation has an event that will take care of both urges at once.
If you have some sports gear you no longer need, or are looking for some gear to get you ready for the anticipated heavy snow season we’ll be having, then why not come to the Slocan Park Hall on Saturday, Oct. 30 between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.?
Every type of winter sporting goods can be either brought to sell or hopefully found there. Snowboards, skis (cross-country and downhill), skates, boots, all types of bindings, poles, sports clothing, sleds and more — you have it, we want it.
All items being brought to the event should be in good working condition.
Since it’s the verge of Halloween, the event will have a pumpkin carving table set up as well. There may be a few pumpkins available, but bring your own if you have one and your tools as well. Come make a mess and go away with another work of art.
Equipment being entered in the swap can be dropped off from 9:15 – 9:45 a.m. at the hall, or dropped off by arrangement before that day. Pay-outs or unsold equipment must be picked up between 12:30 and 1:00 p.m.
Ten per cent of the selling price goes to the Slocan Valley Recreation Commission, to a maximum of $20 per item. Admission to the event is a non-perishable item for the Slocan Food Bank.
The Slocan Park Hall is located on Highway 6 approximately 10 kilometres north of the Highway 3 junction.
