Traffic was slowed to a snail’s pace Saturday afternoon on Vernon Street in Nelson, the main artery for Highway 3A through the Heritage City, after a truck caught on fire.

Members of Nelson Police and Nelson Fire responded to the fire, located near the corner of Kootenay and Vernon Streets.

Nelson Fire quickly responded and extinguished the blaze, located in the engine of the truck, before the fire could spread to the rest of the vehicle.

Nelson Police conducted traffic control, re-routing traffic onto Baker Street before the Dodge truck was towed away by Western Auto.

No one was hurt in the fire.
