To The Editor:

Happy Anniversary Nelson.

It was June 17th, 2017 the Nelson Community Solar garden began making power. You could buy a 25-year contract for the value of power a solar panel makes.

It was to be fully funded by those opting in, costs doubled, you paid that. You also pay full retail for the power instead of everyone benefitting from the profits our own clean green water power would have made helping to reduce everyone’s electric bill.

Church groups, co-ops and individuals all bought in.

The solar garden power made this year to June 17th day 168 of 2020 would be made by an equivalent power hydro plant in 12 days, it works all the time at full power, in snow, clouds, at night, reliable and dependable.

Nelson hydro sells power to BC Hydro, one solar panels power year to date if sold to BCH would make 62 cents. Solar garden business case payments $24,000 per year for 25 years.

Solar panels might last 25 years making less power every year, cradle to toxic grave they increase our carbon footprint, nothing is greener or cleaner than our water power.

Almost all annual solar power will be made in the next couple of months, while spring runoff has filled our reservoirs and lakes, dams are overflowing . . . we can’t even use the water, solar power is worthless.

The City of Nelson’s own bylaw says they won’t buy any power unless it makes economic sense. I ask why they don’t enforce the bylaw, they won’t answer.

I get blocked on local eco facebook and other sites when I provide this information. The green lobby wants the movie Planet of the Humans removed, at the moment its still on YouTube.

They tell the story I am telling here.

The emperor has no clothes.
