Nelson Boxing Club’s Wamuna Fukada just returned from the Canadian National Boxing Championships in Brampton, Ont., with a bronze medal.

Fukada, 18, defeated a boxer from Prince Edward Island in the consolation bout to secure the medal in the 54kg division.

Five Nelson gymnasts, earned highly sought after placements on the Kootenay Zone Gymnastics Team to compete at the 2023 BC Winter Games in Vernon March 23-26.

The Fernie Falcons started fast and never looked back en route to a convincing 102-51 decision over Kootenay River of Creston in the final of the Kootenay Classic High School Boys Basketball Tournament Saturday at the L.V. Rogers Hangar in Nelson.
